Asheville LETS is a legal community self-help program. Asheville LETS does not constitute a barter exchange as it is operated solely for the informal trade of similar services on a noncommercial basis (see Income Tax Regulations Section 1.6045-1(a)(4)).

LETS is not a scheme for avoiding the payment of taxes and we encourage all members to personally undertake their liabilities to the state, including income tax, where required by law.
