Notes

Trade Fair

Publicity We have contacted local radio and newspapers.

Kim will flyer West Asheville and Broadway downtown.

Scott and Kila will flyer Haywood St and Lexington Ave

Organizers should send personal reminders via email to their contacts to encourage attendance.

We should call members who have items that would be ideal for showcase at the fair and ask them to bring tables for their stuff. Scott will scan the directory to figure out who such members are and email organizers with assignments of who to call.

We will have nametags for members to write their names and a few offers and/or wants to help people get acquainted. This will be our default method, unless we can think of something cooler. We will have some time during the fair to go around in a circle and introduce ourselves and talk about how the system is going.

Scott and Kim will bring the cups, plates and napkins they have.

Kim will inquire about borrowing lightweight folding tables from the full moon crew.

It would be great to have some kid activities.

It would be great to have some adult activity to insight group fun.

Meeting Space

When our lease with the Reid Center runs out at the new year, we will try meeting at Eaties Cereal Bar since it's a free space and is in a convenient location. If it doesn't work, we'll try the Pack library. The Reid Center seems to inconvenient for people.

Work Party

We will have a work party Tues 10/9 @ 4:30 @ Rosetta's.

Cash Contributions from Members

We will start collecting $10 member contributions in November.

We'll publicize that we're doing it a month before.

People who can't pay need to write a letter stating that they can't pay, but they want to keep their acct active.

We will email members who haven't paid the day payment is due.

We will call members who haven't paid 2 months after payment is due to find out what's up and let them know that their acct will be suspended if they do not pay or write a letter.

How will we collect $ - this seems tricky. people can use paypal if they have a paypal acct. we can have folks mail their payment, but we don't want checks, should we have them mail cash? They can drop payment off at monthly orientations, but is that convenient?

This needs to be worked out further.

Diversity

We want to diversify the system.

Brainstorming led us to the idea of targeted outreach to folks who could offer specific skill sets (we need a comprehensive list of what skills are lacking).

We could draft generic letters to people who might fall into a category of needed skill sets. We could contact volunteers from our volunteer list and ask them to help advertise LETS to people with specific skill sets.

We could attempt to maintain community bds at the downtown and west asheville libraries to spread the word about LETS and eventually maintain directory listings on those boards.

Kim will call the libraries to see if it is possible to get board space.
